What is the Check-in/Check-out process?
Check-in is at 4 PM, and check-out is at 11 AM. Guests will receive arrival and departure instructions, a keyless entry code, Wi-Fi details, and the property address via email and SMS 24 hours before check-in. Check-out instructions are also provided on the morning of departure and can be found in the Welcome Book inside the cabin. Early check-in may be available upon request.
Why should I book directly, rather than through Airbnb or VRBO?
Booking directly through our website means you can avoid third-party service fees and get the best rate for the same high-quality stay. Woodland Lodge and Notestone Cabin are listed on Airbnb and VRBO, but booking directly offers more value and personalized support.
What is the process of booking directly?
Reservations can be made directly through our website, book.thewoodlandsathockinghills.com/. You must be at least 25 years of age to book and be willing to provide proof at the time of reservation. The booking guest will be responsible for all other persons staying on the property during the reservation.
A 50% deposit will be required for reservations, which will be charged on the date of booking. The total remaining balance is due 30 days before check-in. Reservation charges include but are not limited to lodging taxes, damage waiver, and cleaning fees. All fees are subject to change.
Before check-in, you will be required to complete a pre-arrival form, sign the Rental Conditions, and undergo the guest verification process with Truvi. Only after completing these steps will check-in instructions be provided.
What fees are included?
Direct bookings include lodging tax (6%), a cleaning fee ($215 for Notestone Cabin, $285 for Woodland Lodge), and a $59 non-refundable damage waiver. Third-party bookings may include additional platform fees. All fees are subject to change and may be affected by local regulations.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
Cancellations made more than 30 days before arrival will receive a full refund, minus a 10% credit card processing fee.
Cancellations made 14 to 30 days before arrival will receive a 50% refund. No refunds are available for cancellations made less than 14 days before the scheduled arrival date. No refunds will be issued for cancellations due to inclement weather. All changes and/or cancellations to reservations must be completed in writing to the property owners before the appropriate stated cancellation deadline.
Are pets allowed?
Unfortunately, we do not offer pet-friendly rentals. We have a strict no-pet policy in place to ensure the cleanliness and comfort of all our guests.
What are the rental house rules?
- Max occupancy: 12 at Notestone Cabin, 18 at Woodland Lodge
- Only registered guests may stay overnight
- No smoking, pets, parties, glitter, or confetti
- No fireworks permitted
- Guests may walk the property at their own risk
- Hot tub use is at your own risk (no glass nearby; supervision required for kids under 12)
- The grill must be moved away from the railing/lights when in use
- Guests do not have access to the barn
- Report any damage before check-out
What amenities are provided?
Each cabin includes:
- Fully stocked kitchen with modern appliances
- 12-cup drip coffee maker
- (3) coffee filter packs, sugar, creamer
- (3) toilet paper rolls per bathroom
- (2) rolls of paper towels
- (2–3) garbage bags per garbage can
- Hand soap
- Dishwasher tabs
- Dish soap and basic cleaning supplies
- Fresh linens, bath towels, and bedding
- Propane tank and grill
- Washer/dryer
- Wi-Fi and streaming-enabled TVs
How is the internet/wifi connection?
We use Frontier Internet at both properties. While we strive to deliver the best service possible in our rural location, speeds may vary depending on usage and weather conditions. Please note that no refunds are issued for internet disruptions.
How are the driving conditions?
Hocking County has scenic but rural roads. Expect a mix of paved and gravel roads. During snowstorms or other inclement weather, a 4-wheel drive vehicle may be necessary. No refunds are provided due to weather or accessibility issues.
How many guests can each property accommodate?
Woodland Lodge can accommodate up to 18 guests, and Notestone Cabin can accommodate up to 12 guests.
Are the cabins and property child-friendly?
Guests of all ages are welcome; however, please note that neither the cabin, lodge, nor property has been child-proofed. Children need to be supervised during their stay, especially around any fire feature, hot tub, or while exploring the natural terrain outside. The property features fire pits, ungated hot tubs, two-story decks, and natural areas that require direct adult supervision.
What if I encounter an issue during my stay?
We encourage guests to contact us directly if any issues arise during their stay. We will do everything in our power to rectify the situation and ensure your stay with us is as enjoyable as possible.
What activities are available around the area?

Can I book additional services with my accommodations?
